ABSN Program Admissions Process

Ready to start your nursing school journey with our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program? Here we break down the first four steps you need to take to begin the admissions process.

1. Talk to an Admissions Counselor

Before you submit an application, take any outstanding prerequisite courses or request your official transcripts, you need to talk to an admissions counselor. During your initial call, you’ll provide a little background about yourself, including what inspired you to want to become a nurse, as well as discuss what you’re looking for in a nursing program. This will help your admissions counselor get a sense for whether an Accelerated BSN program is right for you.

He or she will also go into greater detail about the program and admissions requirements. At the end of your admissions call, your counselor will outline your next steps. Keep in mind that you will be assigned a dedicated admissions counselor who will be in regular contact with you throughout the application and enrollment process.

2. Develop Your Academic Success Plan

Everyone’s educational background is different, meaning that the steps you will need to take to get into nursing school may vary from those of another applicant. As part of the application process, we’ll evaluate your academic background and transcripts to determine what steps you must take to be eligible for Felician University’s ABSN program.

This may include fulfilling prerequisite course requirements or passing a challenge examination for a required science course you took more than 10 years ago. You may also need to retake a course to raise your GPA. Once you have a clear sense of everything you need to accomplish, we can target a specific start date in January, May or August.

3. Successfully Complete Any Necessary Prerequisites

As part of our Accelerated BSN program admissions process, you will need to successfully complete the prerequisite coursework requirements. How many you must complete depends on how recent your previous college experience is and often whether your past degree or academic focus was in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts field of study.

In order to meet the ABSN eligibility requirements, you must complete the prerequisite coursework with a C+ or higher grade.

4. Complete Your Nursing School Application

You can complete the ABSN program application online and submit:

  • All official transcripts from the college or university you previously attended
  • A professional resume
  • A letter of intent to the School of Nursing
  • Two academic or professional letters of recommendation
