Why Study Nursing at Felician University in New Jersey?
Since 1965, Felician University’s School of Nursing has embodied a steadfast commitment to developing top-tier nurses who are well-suited to meet the challenges of a dynamic, fast-changing health care environment.
It was this mission — along with the growing demand for BSN-educated nurses nationwide — that led to the creation in 2019 of our 16-month Hybrid Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program in Parsippany, New Jersey. This new accelerated nursing program gives learners the option to study nursing theory when and where it’s convenient through flexible online coursework, and offers students three start dates each year, so you can start working toward your goal of becoming a nurse sooner.
However, we understand that not everyone learns the same way. For those students who prefer a more traditional, lecture-based experience, Felician University offers a 19-month Ground Accelerated BSN program at our main campus in Rutherford.
Whichever accredited ABSN program you choose, you’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills you need to become a leader in the field of nursing, as well as to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) — the final step in achieving registered nurse licensure.
Two New Jersey ABSN Locations
Of course, no nursing program can be completed 100% online. Both our Ground and Hybrid ABSN programs feature high-tech skills and simulation labs where you’ll receive hands-on training designed to prepare you for your clinical rotations and professional practice.
Hybrid ABSN Program Learning Site in Parsippany
Students of our online-based Hybrid ABSN program should expect to travel to our learning site in Parsippany, New Jersey, several times a week. There you’ll participate in skills and simulation labs designed to provide realistic nursing experience in a safe, risk-free environment, as well as attend exams and review sessions. As a Felician University ABSN student, you can also use our site to study and meet up with your cohort or instructors.
Located near Newark, Parsippany is a great place to pursue your career in nursing. Ranked fifth on Money’s Best Places to Live 2016 list, Parsippany offers free public transportation, beautiful parks and greenspaces (there’s a reason the Arbor Day Foundation calls it a Tree City U.S.A.), and one of the lowest crime rates in the country. Parsippany is also surprisingly affordable compared to many other areas in the state, which might explain why so many residents make the 35-mile commute to New York City for work each day.

Why Study to Be a Nurse in New Jersey?
Health care is in a constant state of flux, and New Jersey is leading the way, pioneering new life-changing medical technologies, treatments and diagnostic tools. In fact, the Garden State has long been referred to as the “Medicine Chest of the World” thanks to the many top pharmaceutical research companies based in the state — as well as the sheer volume of clinical research trials underway.
But it’s not just pharmaceutical and medical technology breakthroughs that make New Jersey a leader in health care; the state also has some of the nation’s best hospitals, and U.S. News & World Report ranks it twelfth in the nation for health care overall.
All of this makes New Jersey an exciting place to start your nursing career, and that begins with earning your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Felician University’s accredited accelerated nursing program allows you to leverage your previous college experience so you can earn your BSN in as few as 16 months. Offering multiple starts a year, our hybrid, online-based ABSN program and campus-based ground ABSN program make it possible to begin your nursing journey sooner.
